Chhapaak Trailer – Deepika Padukone Brings Real Life Of Acid Attack Victims To The Mass
The trailer for Deepika Padukone’s next, ‘CHHAPAAK’, dropped on Youtube and it has already attracted attention from both critics and the audience. Directed by ‘Talvaar’ and ‘Raazi’ fame Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is based on true events, prominently from the life of the 2005 acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Deepika is all over the trailer giving goosebumps and chills with her expressions and dialogue delivery.
The trailer opens up with a journalist speaking about the Nirbhaya Case and how important it is to bring out the story of Malti (Deepika Padukone), an acid-attack survivor. It portrays the emotions of Malti from when she sees her face post-surgery for the first time, to discarding her earrings since her ears are damaged, to stepping out of the house to fight for justice. She raises voice against the sale of acid quoting “milta he nahi, toh phikta bhi nahi’.
Along with Deepika, we see Vikrant Massey playing the character Amol who is a social activist inspired by Laxmi’s real life support Alok Dixit. Vikrant looks promising as he is seen romancing and supporting Malti throughout her fight for justice. The journey of Malti is also supported by a lawyer, human rights activist and most importantly her family, and the trailer showcases a glimpse of the role they played while such an incident is handled by the police and the judicial authorities. Meghna Gulzar has also depicted the insensitive reactions of the public on an acid attack victim.
Keep a lookout for minute details such as the prosthetic make-up to bring out the real look of an acid-attack victim.
Ending the trailer with the dialogue by Malti, ‘Unhone meri soorat badli hai, mera mann nahi’ and the tag #AbLadnaHai, really boosts our anticipation to watch the powerful performances and emotions when the movie releases. Produced by Fox Star Studios, Govind Singh Sandhu, Meghna Gulzar and Deepika Padukone (debut production), ‘CHHAPAAK’ is going to hit the theatres near you on 10th January, 2020.
